Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6)
Area: High Wycombe and Maidenhead
Position: Full Time or Part Time
Rate: Competitive salary – (based on Agenda for Change), dependent on experience.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic and innovative Speech and Language Therapist to join our services in High Wycombe and Maidenhead initially covering maternity leave in our Special School service based at Chiltern Wood, and our syndrome-specific speech and language therapy services for children and young people who have Down Syndrome.

Symbol UK is a not-for-profit speech and language therapy service. We are proud of the breadth of skills and experience in our staff team, where specialist speech and language therapists work alongside highly experienced therapists, assistants and co-workers across the South East. This enables us to offer a range of specialist speech, language and communication assessments, intervention and support to children and adults with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities.
The post is a permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week role, initially covering maternity leave for 12 months from June 2025. A Sept 25 start could also be negotiated, and this would involve 9 months maternity cover. Following this, the post would move to other similar local Symbol services.
We have excellent support and supervision systems and provide a high level of training and mentoring. Most of our staff team have worked in our services for many years, developing specialist skills and their portfolio of responsibilities within our services.
Starting salary commensurate with NHS Band 6 – Agenda for change, depending on skills and experience. This post involves opportunities to develop leadership skills as well as developing clinical practice.
